Making Healthy Versions of Wendy's Recipes

Several of Wendy's recipes can be made into healthier versions at home. For example, the Wendy's Frosty can be remade with vegan ingredients for a low-calorie but indulgent treat. Replace the ice cream with silken tofu or soaked cashews, use xylitol instead of sugar, and skip the ice cubes to make a healthy Vanilla Frosty.[3]

Wendy's Chili is another dish that can be made into a healthy option. Leave out the ground beef and substitute ground turkey instead. Add lots of vegetables such as pinto beans and kidney beans for bulk. If you want to top it with sour cream and cheese, go for low-calorie or vegan versions of these ingredients.[4]

Healthiest Food to Order at Wendy's

If you're in a time crunch and you need to order your food directly from the restaurant, a few of the menu choices are fairly low in calories. The Wendy's Junior Bacon Cheeseburger comes in at only 390 calories but still has 20 grams of protein to make for a filling meal. Pair it with a Garden Side Salad for a complete meal under 600 calories.[5]

Wendy's Kids' Meals also offer low-calorie choices. The Grilled Chicken Go Wrap has 260 calories and only 10 grams of fat. The Kids' Hamburger is also fairly healthy, with just 260 calories and 10 grams of fat. Add an order of apple slices and a milk or bottled water to complete the meal.[6]
