Caserecce (or “casarecce”) pasta is shaped like small, narrow tubes. According to the National Pasta Association, caserecce works well with meat sauces and casserole dishes.[7] The Olive Garden’s chef estimates the total cooking time for this dish at 1 hour, 45 minutes, including the 15 minutes of preparation time. This recipe serves four people as a main dish.[5]

  • To add a creamier flavor, add 1 cup of heavy cream to the sauce before simmering.[3]
  • While this recipe calls for caserecce pasta, you can substitute any pasta, including angel hair, spaghetti, or fettuccine.[6]
  • Increase the flavor by adding chopped vegetables such as carrots and celery to the sauce before simmering.[4]
  • If you won't be using the sauce right away, you can refrigerate it for up to a week or freeze it for up to six months.[2]
