- 3/4 cup half and half
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoon chopped parsley
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- Heat the butter and garlic in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Saute the garlic until it just softens but does not brown.
- Whisk in the flour to forma paste.
- Add the half and half, a small amount at a time, whisking constantly.
- Slowly stir in the parmesan cheese, whisking constantly.
- Stir in the parsley.
- Simmer until the desired consistency is reached.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately.
This garlic sauce can serve as a base for a number if other types of sauces. If you enjoy basil, make a garlic pesto sauce by adding a tablespoon or two of bottled pesto sauce along with the cheese. For a garlic herb sauce, add a teaspoon each of dried oregano, basil, rosemary, and thyme. For a spicy sauce, add some crushed red pepper.
